Maybank today announced a special financial relief scheme for its customers and employees who were affected by the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide.
President and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar said in a press statement that customers with consumer, automobile financing and business loans would be given a deferment of monthly installment payment to up to six months on a case-by-case basis.
"We are rendering this assistance to our customers, including employees, living in the area. It is a tragic time for all victims and their families and this is our way of expressing concern.
"We would like to render assistance in times of emergency or natural disaster," he said.
According to Wahid, credit card customers affected by the landslide would be given flexibility to defer their monthly installment payments and a free replacement for lost or damaged credit cards.
The company would also waive charges for customers with savings, current or fixed deposits if they needed to replace ATM cards, cheque books and passbooks which were destroyed or lost in the incident.
He said Maybank would accelerate the claims processing made by insurance policy holders for Maybank Motor Insurance and Personal accident policy holders on a case-by-case basis.
He gave an assurance that on-site assessments for customers with Home Contents policies would be made and claims of up to RM 10,000 would be done in three working days.
A deferment in monthly premiums for affected insurance policy holders on a case-by-case has also been announced.
Maybank customers facing financial difficulties as a result of the landslide have been advised to call the Customer Service Hotline at 1-300-88-66-88.
"This assistance takes effect immediately and we will monitor the situation with our customers and employees," said the bank president, adding that the bank would consider other measures of assistance, too.
